Qualifications Necessary

The Security department has an opening for a Casual Security Guard. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:

  • Graduate of Community College Law and Security / Police Foundations program, OR graduate of recognized Emergency Services training facility, and/or 3-5 years of experience of Tactical Security OR Healthcare Security.
  • Valid Security Guard License.
  • 3 years of previous experience in dealing with the public in a law enforcement / Security role – preferred.
  • Use of Force and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is considered an asset.
  • Strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for staff, patients, physicians, contractors and visitors.
  • Attention to detail and have the ability to perform required abilities.
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of this role.
  • Testing will be based off of the PIN test requiring a 75% minimum score.
  • Testing includes Push-ups / Flexibility / Core Endurance / 2.4 Km run
  • Commitment to personal development and growth.
  • Committed to high professional standards and confidentiality.
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English in order to provide effective communication with staff, patients, contractors and visitors.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties of this position, which may include physical demands such as:
    Standing for long periods, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, moving/transferring patients.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the team.
  • Commitment to professional appearance and ensuring a clean and functional uniform.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position as directed by the Security Coordinator or designate.
