What You Will Be Doing

The Facility Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all equipment is operating properly and safely. He/she performs periodic and general maintenance tasks throughout the facility according to schedule, including hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, carpentry, and building maintenance, major overhaul of equipment, fabrication of parts, air‑conditioning and heating system installation, adjustment, system design changes, calibration, and repair of electronic and pneumatic controls. He/she stays abreast of current technology in regards to job duties.

The position will be based in Irvine, CA.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform daily inspection of doors and dock plates, banana rooms, and all other building and support areas. Recognize problems and repairs before breakdown occurs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems using advanced skills including electronic repair (programmable control and relay logic) and programming and design.
  • Repair racking, batteries, chargers, lighting fixtures, ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems as required.
  • Maintain complete repair order records.
  • Follow company procedures and ensure a safe work environment, performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications as well as the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation Pay or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays, bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).

Shift for this position is a 12‑hour night shift, working 3 days one week and 4 days the next.

What We Are Searching For
  • At least two‑year experience or training in the maintenance field and current state and local licenses. Good background in electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry and general building repairs. Must provide own tools.
  • Working knowledge of electrical lift trucks, ammonia refrigeration systems and warehouse building systems and repairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Ability to perform repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures. Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead and to work in or under equipment, with manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance both at ground level and in high places.
  • Ability to operate work‑related equipment such as maintenance power tools, forklifts and pallet jacks, diagnostic equipment, and to read and comprehend labeling on hazardous materials and equipment in the facility.
  • Must be mentally alert to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities, and learn and follow company and distribution center policies regarding safe operation of equipment, purchase orders, parts requisitions, inventory and maintenance orders, and hazardous materials.
  • Work performed under typical warehouse conditions with exposure to potential hazards: high‑voltage current, welding equipment, vehicle and equipment lubricants and solvents.…
