As a Programming Technician – Fire Alarm & Communication Systems
, you’ll be responsible for configuring, programming, testing, and commissioning life safety systems across active job sites.
- Program, configure, and commission fire alarm systems (Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire‑Lite, Potter, Bosch, and similar platforms)
- Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and commissioning support
- Integrate and support 2‑way communication systems (Jeron, Rath, Honeywell)
- Review and interpret blueprints, submittals, and system designs
- Conduct functional testing, supervisory testing, and final acceptance testing
- Document programming changes and prepare detailed reports
- Coordinate with field technicians, engineers, and project managers
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, ADA, and local building codes
- Provide technical support and client training as needed
Required
- 2+ years of experience in fire alarm, security, or life safety system programming
- Hands‑on experience with fire alarm panel programming and commissioning
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification (strongly preferred or in progress)
- California Fire/Life Safety Certification
- Experience with integrated systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion, etc.)
This role is primarily field-based with coordination in office as needed.
- Work performed across active construction job sites throughout Southern California
- Occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency service calls may be required
- Must be comfortable working in varying field conditions
- Physical requirements include:
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and ladder use
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as needed
