Position Summary

Want to make a difference in someone’s life? We’re looking for a responsible and caring individual to mentor and support people with developmental disabilities at their job sites, as well as provide job development for those seeking employment in the South Orange County area.

Starting Rate: $24.00 per hour. In addition, mileage and cell phone reimbursement, plus bonus incentives for job placements ($100–$600 prorated).

In the Employment Coach role, you will support someone with:

  • Job development, including resume building, practice interviews, and learning new employability skills
  • Transportation to and from work, and assistance with accessing the community
  • Maintaining employment and productivity
  • Discovering interests, skills, and employment goals
  • Creating a meaningful daily schedule with their circle of support

Job Description General Description
  • The Employment Coach is responsible for carrying out all directives from the Support Manager, Director of Services, CEO, and Board of Directors. The highest priority is to ensure all IRI persons served have their service and support needs met.
  • The Employment Coach provides mentorship to the people we serve, focusing on health, safety, and quality of life services.
  • The Employment Coach will provide job development and on‑the‑job supports guided by PBIS and Instructional Support Strategies, helping individuals and their circle of support secure a competitive integrated job aligned with their skills and talents.
  • The Employment Coach supports the manager in gathering information for meaningful and Individualized Support Plans (ISP).
  • The Employment Coach will utilize digital tools such as Zoom, online learning platforms, and online job searching to support long‑term employment goals.
  • The Employment Coach will ensure strong business relationships with employers and volunteer sites.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Two years of college or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
  • Job development and on‑the‑job support experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities, preferably in community integrated settings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills; proficient in using computers and online platforms.
  • Positive behavior support training experience preferred.
  • Commitment to full inclusion of all persons with disabilities.
  • Commitment to integrated employment for all persons with disabilities.
  • Commitment to self‑advocacy and person‑centered planning.
  • Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

A comprehensive paid training program is provided at the time of hire and on an ongoing basis.
