Senior Systems Engineer II, Unreal Engine 5
At Blizzard, we craft genre-defining games and legendary worlds for all to share. We build immersive universes and iconic characters across platforms, borders, backgrounds, and generations. Join us to ensure our games run efficiently on multiple platforms using Unreal Engine. We will collaborate with designers and gameplay engineers to improve engine technology and workflow, ensuring project ambitions are realized on the host hardware.

Some on-site, some work‑from‑home. Potential home studios:

Austin, TX;
Albany, NY.
- Design and implement new features within UE5 or evolve pre-existing engine features with artists, designers, and engineers to meet project requirements.
- Optimize Unreal Engine 5 performance and functionality across multiple hardware platforms.
- Act as a primary point‑of‑contact to the larger development team on all engine‑related issues, guiding designers, artists, and gameplay engineers to maximize engine performance and minimize application memory consumption.
- Work with project leadership to identify, prioritize, and implement improvements for engine‑based workflows.
- Extensive experience as an Engine Engineer using Unreal Engine 5, with a portfolio of shipped or launched UE5 games strongly preferred. Fluent C++ coding with sophisticated knowledge of both historical patterns and modern language features.
- Understanding of data structures and algorithms and their appropriate use cases.
- Experience with multithreading, performance analysis, and code optimization.
- Experience shipping games on multiple platforms.
- Experience as an engine programmer with AAA third‑party game engines.
- Shipped at least one AAA game in a similar role.
- Previous experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers.
- Familiarity with C#.
- A degree in computer science or a related field.
- Strong documentation philosophies to capture and evangelize best practices.
