Python, Software Engineer
About the Role
We’re looking for a Staff Python Software Engineer who thrives on solving tough problems — not just building new features but understanding why systems behave the way they do and how to make them better. You’ll dive into legacy code, untangle complexity, and modernize critical systems while keeping business continuity intact.
What You’ll Do- Deeply explore existing Python and legacy systems — debug, refactor, and elevate code quality without breaking what works.
- Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs.
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and drive measurable improvements.
- Collaborate across engineering, data, and product teams to modernize architecture and streamline deployments.
- Lead and mentor engineers in problem‑solving, debugging, and sustainable design patterns.
- Shape system design decisions and drive modernization efforts with pragmatism and technical rigor.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, ideally across multiple system generations.
- Expert‑level Python skills – async, profiling, and clean architecture.
- Experience with extending and embedding the CPython interpreter.
- Strong debugging instincts – you diagnose instead of guessing.
- Experience refactoring or migrating legacy systems (monolith to microservices).
- Solid understanding of data modeling, APIs, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with modern cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience with C++ for system‑level integrations or bridging legacy components into Python.
- Background in analytics, ETL pipelines, or high‑performance data processing.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Open‑source contributions or a track record of improving developer tooling.
You’ll own big, messy, meaningful problems and have the space to solve them your way. Work with seasoned engineers who value curiosity, craftsmanship, and straight talk. Competitive pay, flexible work options, and a culture that prioritizes autonomy and impact.
