Software Verification & Test Engineer
Location:
Irvine, CA (Hybrid/Onsite as applicable)
Employment Type:
Full-Time / Contract
The Software Verification & Test Engineer is responsible for developing, documenting, executing, and maintaining software verification procedures, testing tools, and traceability to support the development of regulated medical devices. This role plays a critical part in ensuring software quality and regulatory compliance throughout the product development lifecycle.
Essential Responsibilities- Develop, document, review, and maintain high-quality software verification procedures
- Analyze software requirements and create comprehensive verification test cases
- Create new tests and update existing test protocols to ensure full coverage of software requirements
- Execute verification test procedures with a strong focus on manual testing of complex medical devices
- Plan or assist in the planning of software verification activities, including effort estimation
- Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including maintaining test protocols and requirements traceability
- Perform software integration activities, supporting software-to-software and software-to-hardware subsystem integration
- Track and report progress toward performance, quality, and schedule objectives
- Design or specify software and hardware tools, fixtures, and environments to support testing
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and software test engineering best practices
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to foster a positive, quality-focused engineering environment
- Strong experience in software testing and verification
- Hands‑on experience with bug tracking systems
- Knowledge of IEC 62304 and medical device design control processes
- Experience testing regulated medical device software
- Proficiency with JIRA or similar issue‑tracking tools
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
- Familiarity with Perforce Helix ALM or similar application lifecycle management tools
- Prior experience with ventilator systems or life‑support medical devices
