Your Role on the Team
Under the supervision of the Financial Aid IT Manager, the Applications Programmer applies professional programming concepts, community standards, and relevant policies for small to medium-sized projects or portions of larger projects. The role resolves a variety of programming design and implementation issues, works on assignments of moderate scope, and exhibits competence in selecting tools, methods, and techniques to obtain results.
What It Takes to be SuccessfulRequired:
- Intermediate skills in designing, developing, modifying, and deploying software, including object-oriented programming concepts, specifically with Oracle Student Financial Planning (SFP) Cloud Service, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Oracle Analytics Publisher (OAP) / Oracle BI Publisher (BIP), Oracle Application Express (APEX), Java, Groovy, RESTful APIs, PL/SQL, T‑SQL, and application development and operational support tools such as Git Hub, Jenkins, Zena, MFT, and shell scripting.
Experience developing applications following secure coding and data protection best practices and norms is required. - Knowledge of secure software development.
- Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs, and to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
- Knowledge of other IT-related areas.
- Experience with identification and use of code libraries and open‑source forums.
- Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.
- Demonstrated software repository skills and testing and test‑planning skills.
- Experience with common programming tools.
- Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications and a formal Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Experience debugging, testing, and validating accuracy of developed applications and code.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non‑technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team, learn effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
- Working knowledge of version control software for branching and merging.
- Adherence to OIT’s cultural values:
Collaboration, Respect, Trust, Transparency, Quality, Inclusiveness, Customer Centricity, and Learning and Growth. - Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience or training.
- 1–3 years of experience in software development.
Preferred:
- 1–3 years of experience with Oracle Student Financial Planning (SFP) Cloud Service, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Oracle Analytics Publisher (OAP) / Oracle BI Publisher (BIP), Oracle Application Express (APEX), Java, Groovy, PL/SQL, and SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum), RESTful APIs, T‑SQL.
- May be required to work after hours or overtime, as needed.
- Must reside in California.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $31.47–$37.38 (Hourly).
