Senior Platform Engineer – Capital Group

As a Senior Platform Engineer on our enterprise‑wide technology team, you will architect and build the backbone of Capital Group’s cloud ecosystem. Your work powers automation, tooling, and platform capabilities that thousands of engineers rely on to deliver business‑critical applications and services at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize sophisticated cloud infrastructure automation on AWS using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Integrate AI and machine learning into automation for predictive scaling, anomaly detection, self‑healing systems, and resource optimization.
  • Build self‑service capabilities that enable internal engineering teams to deploy confidently, including AI‑assisted developer tools and copilot‑driven workflows.
  • Partner with software engineers, platform engineers, product managers, and product owners to deliver high‑quality features across the full internal developer platform product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with security, risk, and compliance teams to embed protection throughout the platform, making security a feature, not a bottleneck.
  • Champion best practices, optimize performance, and establish scalable automation patterns, including AI‑augmented operational practices, to elevate engineering maturity.
  • Own the IaC developer experience end‑to‑end: refactor IaC modules, build agentic workflows, author custom Terraform providers in Go, and expose Terraform Enterprise capabilities through thoughtful interfaces.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure automation and/or platform engineering with public and private cloud.
  • 4+ years of expert‑level Terraform/Open Tofu experience in large‑scale production environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Advanced scripting skills in Power Shell, Python, and Bash.
  • Strong experience creating modules, managing complex state files, and HCL.
  • Hands‑on experience with Terraform Enterprise and related IaC technologies.
  • Experience creating custom Terraform providers with Go.
  • Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git Hub Actions, Harness, Git Ops).
  • Experience leveraging AI‑assisted development tools, automation agents, or platform‑level AI capabilities while complying with enterprise AI controls and audit requirements.
  • Strong understanding of version control, secure coding practices, and peer‑reviewed development workflows.
  • Background in Linux, networking, and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of TLS certificate chains and IAM platforms (e.g., Okta, Active Directory).
  • Experience in Agile/SCRUM methodologies focused on product delivery.
  • Strong desire to lead, mentor, and contribute to a culture of excellence.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Certifications such as Terraform Associate, AWS Certifications.
  • Experience with pipeline governance and API development.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (Datadog, Splunk).
  • Experience automating request workflows in platforms like Service Now, Harness, and Backstage.io.
  • Exposure to container platforms such as Kubernetes and AWS EKS.
Benefits
  • Generous time‑away and health benefits from day one.
  • Opportunities for flexible work options.
  • 2‑for‑1 matching gifts for charitable contributions, with opportunity for annual grants.
  • Access to on‑demand professional development resources.
  • Competitive salary and annual performance and profitability bonuses.
  • Capital Group 15% retirement contribution.
