** Cotality is seeking a highly skilled
** Senior Software Engineer
** to design, build, and scale next-generation platforms that power AI-enabled applications across our enterprise. This role operates at the intersection of
** modern API architecture and AI integration**, with a strong emphasis on developing
** MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers
** and
** Apigee X-based API ecosystems
** to securely expose internal data and services to AI-driven use cases.

You will work across broad system scopes—translating business needs into scalable technical solutions—while influencing architecture, engineering practices, and platform strategy. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in advancing Cotality’s
** AI-native engineering transformation**, driving innovation in how data and APIs are leveraged by emerging AI applications and agents.

* Job Responsibilities:

**** Architecture, Design & Development
*** Design, develop, and enhance complex software systems that enable scalable and secure AI integrations.
* Lead the architecture and implementation of
** MCP servers
** to expose internal APIs and datasets for AI applications and agent-based workflows.
* Develop and manage
** Apigee X API proxies**, optimizing API lifecycle management, security, and performance.
* Translate high-level requirements into detailed technical specifications, system designs, and implementation approaches.###
** AI & API Strategy Integration
*** Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to define requirements, with a strong focus on
** AI integration capabilities
** and API exposure strategies.
* Evaluate technical feasibility and recommend solutions considering scalability, system constraints, and time-to-market.
* Drive best practices for
** AI context delivery, API governance, and cross-platform integration**.
** Engineering Excellence & Testing
*** Define testing strategies and collaborate with QA and engineering teams to elevate overall testing maturity.
* Develop and enhance testing approaches for:  + MCP server security and access control  + Context retrieval accuracy and latency optimization  + Apigee X policy effectiveness and API performance
* Write comprehensive unit, integration, and system-level tests to ensure reliability and scalability.
** Operational Support & Optimization
*** Provide support for complex production issues, including:  + AI context pipeline failures and MCP integrations  + API gateway traffic patterns and anomalies within Apigee X
* Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents using a systems-level perspective.
* Recommend enhancements to improve system resilience, scalability, and performance.
** Platform, Process & Innovation Leadership
*** Influence and advance engineering processes, including:  + MCP server deployment and lifecycle management  + API proxy development standards within Apigee X  + CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
* Research and evaluate emerging technologies across:  + AI ecosystems and agent frameworks  + MCP standards and related SDKs  + Modern API management platforms
* Apply and socialize new approaches, driving continuous innovation across the team.
** Collaboration & Mentorship
*** Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
* Provide subject matter expertise across projects and contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation and technical leadership.
* Communicate progress, risks, and blockers transparently to maintain delivery momentum.

* Job Qualifications:

*** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related technical field or equivalent work experience.
* 5+ years of relevant work experience in software development.
* Strong proficiency in software development principles and methodologies.
