YourRole on the Team
Mail Processors manage, supervise, or perform a variety of tasks including: sorting and classifying all outgoing mail according to postal regulations for all classes of mail; preparing packages for shipment; preparing, classifying, rating, and recording information and recharges on outgoing registered, certified, receipt requested, insured, and special delivery mail; receiving, recording, and delivering incoming registered, certified and insured mail; processing improperly addressed mail;
labeling, sorting, and preparing catalogs, brochures, and other publications for shipment; maintaining all bulk‑mail and second‑class accounts with the Post Office; answering questions about classes of mail, postage rates, customs requirements, weight and size limitations; operating and maintaining postage meter machines; and performing other related duties as required. Supports the management and organization of long‑term storage inventory and provides operational support for Mail Services, Long‑Term Storage operations, and Ethyl Alcohol delivery services.

- Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to drive delivery vehicles including bobtail trucks.
- Able to safely use material handling equipment such as hand carts, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
- Capable of interacting with a diverse population in a high‑volume, fast‑paced, customer‑focused work environment.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to organize data and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort.
- Three years of experience in handling campus and U.S. mail, including a working knowledge of postal regulations and postal rates.
- Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
- A working knowledge of postal regulations and postal rates; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Familiarity with United States Postal Services regulations.
- Previous experience using mail metering equipment and tracking software.
- Previous experience in the parking and transportation industry.
- Knowledge of UC/UC Irvine policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, order fulfillment.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in handling campus and/or U.S. mail, including a working knowledge of postal regulations and postal rates.
- Warehouse experience with a strong understanding of safety procedures and material handling.
- The incumbent must have a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Final candidate is subject to background check and the California DMV Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program Notification.
