Distribution Center (DC) – Shipping Clerk (LTL/FTL)

Job Summary:

The Shipping Clerk verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.

Job Level:
Entry Level

• Utilize package-level detail system to verify items and quantities against orders.
• Prepare Bill of Lading for LTL/FTL shipments.
• Prepare, match, and verify shipping information and manifest accurately.
• Negotiate freight rates with carriers.
• Assist with stretch wrapping and loading trucks.
• Adhere to customer shipping guidelines and the preparation of shipping information and manifest.
• Adhere to Shimano s 5S Principles.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
• Start time is 10 am-6 pm with mandatory overtime.

• Experience working in a warehouse/distribution center preferred.
• Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced warehouse environment focusing on customer satisfaction.
• Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints is required.
• Must be able to stretch wrap product on pallets properly.
• Ability to use shipping software and automation equipment and perform tasks per Shimano’s standard operating procedures and customer guidelines.
• Familiar with AS400, UPS World Ship, and Fed Ex international systems. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Internet Explorer.
• Must meet and maintain performance standards set by the company.
• Good attitude and take initiative. Takes pride in their work environment and embraces 5S principles.
• Ability to communicate verbally effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail.

High school diploma or GED equivalent

• Approximately 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning.
• The temperature of the work environment, when in the office, is moderate.
• The temperature of the work environment in the warehouse may equal the outside temperatures of the area.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (Conveyor belt, skill saw, compactor and forklifts).

• Frequently lift from overhead or below the waist.
• Occasionally bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl, kneel.
• Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers; and lift (up to 10 lbs.).
• Continuously standing, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and key (i.e., computer, calculator, telephone).

• Frequently use copier, fax, and 10-key calculator
• Continuously use writing instruments, computer and telephone
