Description
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial tasks. You must possess strong judgement skills, can manage challenging situations, handle administrative tasks, excel with technology, and possess solid written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate effectively balances multiple priorities and works well independently. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for month-end close tasks, a variety of reconciliations, general ledger journal entries and ad-hoc analysis/tasks.
An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. These duties below describe an everyday work course but are not limited to other job duties presented at the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Assist company executive and management teams with financial, operational, and strategic projects and planning
- Prepare and record journal entries for month-end closing process.
- Complete month-end bank account and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Ensure the proper recording of monthly accruals and prepaids
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of monthly accruals and prepaids
- Assist with post-closing internal audits.
- Assist with interim and end-of-year external financial audits.
- Assist with Fixed Assets and Leases entries and research.
- Assist accounting team with other clerical, administrative, and accounting tasks, as necessary.
- Assist with Accounts Payable vendor and Accounts Receivable customer account reconciliations.
- Analyze accounting variances and prepare variance explanation reports.
- Implement best practices and recommend overall process improvements while collaborating with other departments utilizing the assets and/or information.
- Perform special projects, as needed.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
CPA not required, but will be a plus.
3- 5 years' experience in accounting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, basic accounting principles, highly proficient in Excel.
Knowledge of common accounting requirements.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Organizational and critical thinking skills.
Ability to multi-task and handle several competing priorities with high urgency.
Self-starter, accustomed to working independently in a demanding work environment.
Typing, data entry and 10-key skills a must.
