** Job Summary
** The Senior Accountant IV - Retail Accounting, supports the financial close process, reporting, and analysis activities for Vistra’s Retail Brands, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accounting operations.
** Job Description
**** Key Accountabilities
*** Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls
* Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency
* Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards
* Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices
* Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines
* Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions
* Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development
** Role Specific Accountabilities**:
* Leverages deep technical expertise of subject matter to support the entire Retail organization in performance of duties.
* Ensures the monthly close process for Vistra’s Retail Brands is timely, complete and accurate, in compliance with US GAAP and other reporting requirements.
* Assists in the preparation and analysis of results, including identification of key drivers of variances between actual results and plan, projection, and prior year.
* Prepares and/or reviews reconciliations, financial schedules, and variance analyses for retail revenue, bad debt expense, and related accruals.
* Collaborates across multiple organizations including Planning, Residential and Business Markets, Marketing
** Education**:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
** Experience**:
* 3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
* Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required
** Skills**:
* Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems
* Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
* Process improvement oriented
* Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process
