Senior Staff Accountant
The Senior Staff Accountant is a key contributor to the organization's financial management function. This position is responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with established accounting guidelines, and delivering meaningful analysis to guide business decisions. The successful candidate will bring solid accounting experience, strong analytical capability, and the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting.
Key Duties
- Produce and evaluate core financial reports such as the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and cash flow statements, ensuring integrity and alignment with standard accounting practices.
- Maintain the general ledger by handling entries, reconciliations, fixed asset tracking, and month-end close activities while ensuring proper documentation.
- Lead day-to-day payables and receivables operations, including invoice handling, approvals, and collections efforts.
- Support budgeting and forecasting cycles by tracking actuals against projections and explaining variances.
- Uphold internal controls and financial policies; assist with audit processes and help implement recommended improvements.
- Perform detailed financial reviews to uncover trends, discrepancies, and cost-efficiency opportunities, and translate findings into practical recommendations for leadership.
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior team members, including coaching and review of their work.
- Evaluate and refine accounting workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Compile and communicate financial insights and reports for leadership, stakeholders, and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA) is advantageous.
- At least five years of relevant accounting experience, including two years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Strong grasp of accounting fundamentals, reporting standards, and financial planning concepts.
- Comfortable working with accounting platforms and advanced Excel; exposure to ERP environments is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and resolve issues effectively.
- High level of precision and attention to detail.
- Capable of managing competing priorities independently in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across teams.
