Job Description & How to Apply Below

Looking for more than another Tax Manager title?

Not every management role is a genuine step forward.

Some bring a larger client list, more review work, and greater pressure, but very little changes in terms of what you learn, who you work with, or where the role could lead.

This opportunity offers more breadth.

An established CPA firm in North Dallas is looking for a Tax Manager who wants stronger client ownership, broader advisory exposure, and more influence across the practice.

The firm works with high net worth individuals and privately owned businesses across sectors including oil and gas, healthcare, and hospitality.

That variety creates exposure to different ownership structures, technical issues, and planning opportunities.

You will still lead high quality compliance work, but the role will not stop there.

You will become more involved in the decisions clients are making throughout the year, strengthen your planning and advisory experience, and work closely with the leadership team on how client relationships and engagements are managed.

For someone who wants the next move to expand their influence, not simply increase their workload, this could be a worthwhile step forward.

Greater ownership of the client relationship

You will act as a key point of contact for clients rather than remaining behind the review process.

That means understanding what matters to the client, identifying planning opportunities, explaining technical issues clearly, and helping them make informed decisions.

You will work across a varied portfolio, giving you the chance to see how tax considerations differ by industry, ownership structure, and stage of business growth.

The role offers the combination many experienced tax professionals are looking for: technical depth, meaningful client contact, advisory work, and the opportunity to lead others.

More visibility across the firm

You will work directly with Partners and other senior leaders in a collaborative environment.

Your contribution will not disappear behind several layers of management.

You will have input into workflow, client service, and team development, while gaining a clearer understanding of how the wider practice operates.

Over time, that visibility can help you build toward a broader leadership role rather than remaining defined only by your review responsibilities.

Why this opportunity stands out

You will work with a varied portfolio of high net worth individuals and privately owned businesses.

You will gain exposure to clients across oil and gas, healthcare, hospitality, and other sectors.

You will build your tax planning and advisory experience alongside core compliance work.

You will take meaningful ownership of client relationships and become a trusted year round contact.

You will work directly with firm leadership and have genuine visibility across the practice.

You will help shape workflow, service delivery, and the development of junior team members.

What you will be doing

Manage and review federal and state tax engagements across a varied client portfolio.

Act as a trusted adviser and year round point of contact for clients.

Identify and support tax planning opportunities alongside compliance work.

Work with high net worth individuals and privately owned businesses across a range of sectors.

Maintain strong technical and client service standards across engagements.

Review work and help develop junior members of the team.

Collaborate with Partners on client strategy, workflow, and wider firm priorities.

Continue building toward a broader leadership role over time.

What the firm is looking for

Public accounting experience at Reviewer or Tax Manager level.

Strong technical tax knowledge across a range of entity types.

Confidence managing client relationships independently.

The ability to combine technical expertise with practical and clear communication.

Someone who enjoys mentoring others and taking ownership of delivery.

A professional who wants to become more involved in advisory work and the wider running of a practice.

CPA or EA credentials are preferred.

You do not need to match every requirement perfectly to start a conversation. Relevant experience, sound judgement, and long term potential may matter more than a perfect résumé.

Why now could be a good time to explore it

Joining during the summer gives you time to understand the client base, build relationships, and settle into the team before the September and October deadlines arrive.

It gives you the chance to learn how the firm works and establish credibility before the pace increases, rather than trying to do both during one of the busiest parts of the year.
