Lube Technician / Express Service Technician Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, motivated Lube Technician / Express Service Technician to join our Service Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or advance a career as an automotive technician.

The Lube Technician is responsible for completing routine maintenance services efficiently, accurately, and safely while providing a high level of workmanship. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works well as part of a team, and is committed to continuous improvement and advancement within the automotive industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform oil and filter changes and other scheduled maintenance services.
  • Perform tire rotations, tire pressure adjustments, and basic tire inspections.
  • Inspect and replace engine air filters, cabin air filters, wiper blades, bulbs, and other maintenance items as appropriate.
  • Perform comprehensive Multi-Point Inspections (MPI) on assigned vehicles.
  • Document vehicle condition and inspection findings accurately, including photos and video inspections when required.
  • Identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, tire wear, fluid conditions, leaks, and other visible vehicle concerns.
  • Clearly document findings so Service Advisors can accurately communicate recommendations to customers.
  • Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining dealership quality standards.
  • Verify that all services have been completed correctly before returning the vehicle.
  • Properly torque wheels and follow all dealership wheel-installation and quality-control procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the assigned work area, shop, tools, and equipment.
  • Properly handle and dispose of oil, filters, fluids, batteries, and other materials in accordance with dealership and environmental requirements.
  • Follow all dealership safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate immediately with the Shop Foreman or Service Management regarding additional vehicle concerns, delays, damaged equipment, or other issues.
  • Participate in manufacturer and dealership training programs.
  • Assist other technicians and team members when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Service Management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous automotive maintenance or lube technician experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and a strong interest in the automotive industry.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles with both automatic and manual transmissions preferred.
  • Ability to operate automotive lifts, tire equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to learn and complete required manufacturer training.
Performance Expectations
  • Complete services correctly the first time.
  • Maintain strong productivity and efficiency.
  • Complete required Multi-Point Inspections consistently and accurately.
  • Properly document vehicle condition and recommended maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintain high video and/or digital inspection utilization when required.
  • Follow all safety and quality-control procedures.
  • Minimize comebacks and preventable workmanship issues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, teamwork, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work underneath vehicles.
  • Regularly lift and carry automotive parts, tires, tools, and equipment.
  • Safely lift approximately 50 pounds.
  • Work in a shop environment that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, and exposure to automotive fluids and chemicals.
