Overview
The Capital Equipment Procurement Manager is responsible for planning, budgeting, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, critical supplier performance management, and stakeholder management for critical OFCI equipment in the electrical category. This role reports to the Director, Capital Equipment Procurement for electrical equipment and works closely with QTS stakeholders, executives, and procurement leaders to develop long‑term business strategies aligned with company goals.
Responsibilities- Analyze capital plans to determine equipment and service requirements and establish the OFCI equipment budget and rolling 12‑month procurement plans.
- Provide accurate cost and schedule information to Development Program Managers to support budget approvals and project schedule planning.
- Deliver weekly procurement status reports, progress updates, and recommendations to executives.
- Evaluate new critical infrastructure technologies with partners to balance cost, availability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Identify and deploy category spend management opportunities, conducting research on supply market and commodity trends, and tracking KPIs.
- Ensure policies and processes are followed, continuously improve procurement performance, and collaborate with Global Procurement leaders on strategy execution.
- Develop and lead RFP processes, secure commercial value, risk mitigation, and performance requirements in contracts.
- Support sales revenue generation by securing competitive pricing for customer deals.
- Solicit and develop construction contracts for projects and associated timelines.
- Monitor market supply chain conditions to anticipate project needs and deliver just‑in‑time ordering.
- Resolve technical and commercial issues, engage subject‑matter experts, and use corrective actions to close processes.
- Distribute up‑to‑date design standards to OFCI suppliers.
- Obtain equipment submittals for design, specification, and process approval.
- Track and manage equipment inventory to recommend reallocation for cost avoidance.
- Develop KPIs to measure supplier performance and ensure negotiated values are realized.
- Lead periodic business reviews and forums such as weekly meetings, QBRs, and problem resolution sessions.
- Provide escalation support to Site Operations teams, suppliers, finance, and other stakeholders.
- Travel to QTS sites, OEM facilities, trade conferences, and networking events to build relationships and support strategic positioning.
- Offer ad‑hoc assistance for difficult‑to‑source equipment, parts, and services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Five or more years of experience in sourcing, procurement, project management, or engineering.
- Experience developing long‑range sourcing plans to reduce costs and optimize supplier value.
- Preferred: five or more years of experience in global supply chain management, project management, category management, strategic sourcing, electrical engineering, negotiations, and vendor management.
- Preferred: data center or critical infrastructure industry experience, facility management, critical electrical and mechanical equipment, construction design and construction, and professional services.
- Preferred: leading change initiatives with significant organizational impact.
