Technical Writer III – Process Mapping & Manufacturing Documentation

Location: Irving, TX - Onsite
Pay: $31-$33/hour
Duration: Approximately 3 months
Experience: 4-6 years
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree required

We are seeking a Technical Writer / Process Documentation Specialist to support a time-sensitive manufacturing and trade compliance initiative. This position will work closely with business, engineering, manufacturing, and operational stakeholders to understand existing processes, develop detailed process flows in Microsoft Visio
, and translate those workflows into clear, user-friendly documentation.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Visio and business process mapping and be comfortable gathering information from multiple stakeholders and converting complex operational processes into structured workflows, job aids, work instructions, and operator manuals.

Candidates do not need to come from a traditional Technical Writer background. Experience as a Business Process Analyst, Process Improvement Analyst, Process Mapping Specialist, or similar role may be highly relevant.

• Gather process information from business, manufacturing, engineering, and operational stakeholders.
• Create detailed business process maps, workflows, and process flows using Microsoft Visio

• Document current-state and future-state processes.
• Translate process maps into clear job aids, operator manuals, work instructions, procedures, and other user-facing documentation
  .
• Document manufacturing and operational processes associated with a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) initiative.
• Organize complex technical and operational information into materials that are easy for end users to understand and follow.
• Partner with subject matter experts to validate process flows and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Update documentation as processes and system requirements evolve.
• Support project activities associated with an upcoming system implementation and go-live.
• Maintain consistency and quality across process documentation and training materials.

• 4-6 years of relevant experience in process documentation, business process analysis, technical writing, process improvement, or a related area.
• Strong hands-on Microsoft Visio experience is required
  , including creating detailed business process maps and workflows.
• Demonstrated experience taking complex processes or requirements and converting them into structured process flows.
• Experience developing documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, job aids, procedures, manuals, or training materials

• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Power Point .
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to gather information from multiple stakeholders and organize it into clear, usable documentation.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in an evolving, deadline-driven project environment.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree required.

• Manufacturing, production, industrial, or manufacturing operations experience.
• Experience mapping manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, or operational processes
  .
• Engineering-related project experience.
• Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) or trade compliance experience.
• SAP, Oracle, and/or ADMS experience.
• Supply chain operations experience.
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge or certification.
• Project management experience.
