Austin Commercial is seeking an MEP Engineer for the Texas Health Resources Plano Project. Austin Commercial is the industry’s leading commercial construction firm, committed to safety, service, and integrity.
Responsibilities- Notify subcontractors of commencement dates, solicit delivery schedules, and expedite deliveries to avoid costly construction delays.
- Participate in detailed estimating of cost and construction time for proposed changes and negotiate change orders with owners. Update contract plans and master schedule upon negotiation completion.
- Prepare submittal schedules, coordinate submissions with subcontractors, architects, and superintendents, maintain logs, and expedite submittals to avoid construction delays. Keep the project manager abreast of submissions impacting the schedule.
- Create and/or oversee preparation of reports such as material logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, drawing logs, and long‑lead items logs as required by owners or company procedures.
- Assist the project manager in preparing subcontracts, resolving subcontract interpretation or execution issues, and proposing alternative actions when problems are unresolved at this level.
- Assist in verification of monthly subcontractor payment requests.
- Locate suppliers for building materials, review invoices for quantity, quality, and price, and ensure accuracy.
- Respond to RFIs from owners and subcontractors, prepare RFIs for the project architect or structural engineer, and route responses to appropriate field superintendents and subcontractors.
- Compile close‑out documents, including as‑built drawings, guarantees, warranties, service manuals, and other related documents for delivery to the owner.
- Participate in jobsite safety as outlined in the company’s Safety & Health Manual.
- When not assigned to a project, serve in the Estimating department preparing detailed cost estimates and assisting with value engineering and pricing.
- B.S. in construction management, construction science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3‑5 years of comparable MEP experience with a general contractor or mechanical contractor.
- Completion of OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training (may be obtained within the first year of employment).
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, and punch‑list processes.
