Description

Austin Commercial is seeking a Concrete Superintendent for our North Texas Division to lead day‑to‑day field construction activities on assigned job sites, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee daily field construction activities.
  • In charge of overall site safety, implementing safety plans and procedures.
  • Review records, submittals, shop drawings, and schedules to determine project scope, materials, manpower, and equipment needs.
  • Plan the physical layout of job sites with the project manager, initiating startup activities such as site security preparations, office trailer placement, and utility hookups.
  • Designate areas for cranes, hoists, material storage, and parking.
  • Direct field engineers in survey and layout, ensuring dimensional control lines and elevations are correct before foundation work.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities for each craft, provide technical instructions, and resolve ambiguities in plans before construction begins.
  • Establish procurement procedures for self‑performed materials, supplies, and tools with approved suppliers.
  • Inspect all construction work, including subcontracted work, to maintain high quality workmanship, correcting deficiencies promptly.
  • Provide technical guidance to resolve day‑to‑day construction problems, and investigate alternative work methods and materials to improve efficiency.
  • Assist the senior superintendent in evaluating schedule and cost impacts, manpower and equipment projections, and labor cost monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, codes, and company policies related to construction activities.
  • Manage scheduling of all governmental inspections required for certificates of occupancy.
  • Assume overall responsibility for employee health and safety, including designation of first aid areas and emergency response.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with owners, architects, and consultants, resolving issues through negotiation.
  • Perform project completion tasks such as punch lists, demobilization, and as‑built documents.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports of all field activities.
  • Administer the company’s Safety & Health Manual.
Requirements
  • B.S. in construction management, engineering, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent education (High School diploma) and experience.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training; may be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • 5+ years of commercial construction field experience, including direct supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of tilt‑wall concrete or structural concrete experience.
  • Proficient in reading plans and specifications.
  • Ability to build and manage direct reports.
