Senior Electrical Estimator

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. The Senior Electrical Estimator will perform detailed takeoffs, develop scope and pricing, identify risks and opportunities, and coordinate with engineering, project management, and subcontractors to support successful bids and proposals. Ideal candidates will have deep electrical systems knowledge, strong estimating experience, and proficiency with Bluebeam and other estimating tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and prepare comprehensive electrical cost estimates, including material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect costs for projects of varying size and complexity.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications using Bluebeam and on-screen takeoff tools; ensure accuracy and completeness of scope.
• Develop detailed bid proposals, scope narratives, and basis of estimate; prepare and present estimate summaries to leadership and clients as needed.
• Solicit, evaluate, and incorporate vendor and subcontractor quotations; maintain supplier relationships and pricing databases.
• Identify project risks, contingency needs, and value engineering opportunities; recommend alternatives to optimize project cost and schedule.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to clarify scope, resolve design questions, and ensure constructability.
• Mentor and review work of junior estimators; establish estimating standards, templates, and best practices.
• Manage multiple bid opportunities and adhere to strict bid schedules and deadlines; ensure quality control and version management of estimates.
• Maintain and update cost databases, unit pricing, historical bid results, and labor productivity metrics.
• Support post-bid activities including clarifications, negotiations, and scope revisions; assist in project handover to estimating and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, or equivalent experience;
  Journeyman/Master Electrician credentials considered a plus.
• 7+ years of progressive electrical estimating experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional construction; prior senior or lead estimator experience preferred.
• Proven proficiency with Bluebeam for takeoffs and plan review; experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Con Est, On-Screen Takeoff) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC code basics, conduit and cable sizing, motor controls, lighting design, power distribution, and typical installation methods.
• Demonstrated ability to perform accurate takeoffs from drawings and specifications, develop scope, and produce competitive, defensible estimates.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risk in estimates.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams; experience mentoring junior staff.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and travel to job sites and vendor locations when needed.
• Proven track record of maintaining cost databases, sourcing supplier quotes, and contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes.
• Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites and vendor locations when needed.
