Safety Position Summary
- Assist and coach Crew Foreman/General Foremen in completing daily Operational Risk Management (ORM) boards and the development of Job Hazard Analyses. Safety Coordinator will photo-document the completed ORM board daily.
- Ability to work day and/or night shifts, overtime, and weekends dependent upon project schedule.
- Submit Site Safety Audit reports daily, recording their findings including any hazards or deficiencies observed, corrective actions taken by management, and supported by attachments and photographs.
- Interact regularly with field personnel and site supervision to address safety observations and provide feedback for resolution.
- Assist with delivery of job site-specific safety orientations for new employees joining the project, as applicable.
- Assisting site supervision in completion of incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Perform periodic audits of power tools and equipment (i.e., scissor lifts, forklifts, fall protection, laser levelers, etc.) to ensure equipment is being maintained in good working order, as applicable.
- Subcontractor compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and project safety requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
- Degree or extensive training in environmental health and safety discipline a plus
- 1 - 3 years in construction safety experience (electrical, mechanical safety experience preferred)
- OSHA 30 Construction required; OSHA 510/511 preferred
- Understanding of electrical industry construction and general industry consensus standards such as NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI
- Experience with construction workforce desired
- CPR/FA Certified
- Ability and experience with presenting and training others
- Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Safety certifications in competency desired
- Bi-lingual desired
Extensive travel by vehicle, significant work at construction sites, during all stages, may work inside or outside. Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow. This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switch gear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces;
works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, walk, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Climb ladders of all types.
- Possess good vision, normal or corrected.
- Specific vision abilities required by his job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
- Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
- Must be able to speak and hear detailed information through oral communication.
- Must be able to write and talk.
- Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time.
