Overview

The Relationship Banker is responsible for managing and growing customer relationships by providing consultative financial solutions and delivering exceptional service. This role focuses on deepening existing relationships, acquiring new customers, and driving deposit and revenue growth through proactive engagement and needs-based recommendation. As a steward of the Bank’s name and reputation, the Relationship Banker must embrace the Bank’s Mission Statement and demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, relationship building, transaction accuracy, and professionalism in all interactions.

The Relationship Banker serves as a trusted advisor, aligning customer needs with the Bank’s products and services to deliver long-term value.is responsible for providing Teller-based transactions and handling maintenance and service requests for consumer and business products/services for new and existing customers, while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and grow customer relationships by delivering a consistent, high-quality, relationship-based service experience across all customer touchpoints, including ongoing engagement and follow-up.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and service requests promptly and accurately, taking ownership through resolution and escalating complex issues when appropriate.
  • Conduct needs-based conversations to recommend appropriate products and services. Identify opportunities to deepen relationships through referrals to internal partners.
  • Open and maintain consumer and small business accounts, including deposits and certificates of deposit, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Process non-real estate consumer loan applications and closings in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support digital banking adoption by educating customers and assisting with enrollment and usage of self-service tools.
  • Support customer onboarding and ensure a positive and seamless experience.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of all bank products, services, and systems, and actively pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Actively participate in daily huddles, team meetings, and discussions to support banking center performance and culture.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and strong communication skills in all interactions with customers and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work during banking hours, which are 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM (noon).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training with two years retail banking sales experience or two years financial services experience; or two years in a relationship sales role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn products, services and procedures quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills – in person and over the phone – with proven ability to tailor features and benefits of products/services to customers with differing needs.
  • Comfortable educating others on technology.
  • Professional, thorough and organized with strong follow-up skills.
  • Performs well in a team environment and proactively collaborates with others to serve customers.
  • Ability to understand and follow policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Projects a professional image in dress, manor and communication.
