Overview

Support Center - Irving. The Manager - Packaging leads private brand packaging through the development and execution of cost-effective, structurally sound, environmentally sustainable retail packaging to maintain and improve all private branded products. This position is a Brand Ambassador that collaborates and supports cross-divisional teams, including product development, design, trend, marketing, packaging suppliers, vendors, global sourcing, and product integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a strategic vision for the department to ensure private brand packaging is of the highest quality, meets regulatory requirements, reflects our brand strategies, and drives sales for the company.
  • Lead communication with internal teams, outside vendors, key stakeholders, and cross-divisional partners.
  • Brand Ambassador that oversees the development of all private brands, brand intent, packaging style guides, and execution to maintain the integrity and consistency of our brands.
  • Drive timelines and communicate to all key stakeholders for assurances on project delivery.
  • Lead the development and revisions of structural concepts and be influential in communicating to guide buy-in of relevant teams.
  • Champion change to private brand packaging. Recognize opportunities that build brand awareness, drive sales, fund company growth, and appeal to customers.
  • Create a vision and style for photography for packaging. Attend and lead photo shoots for projects to create inspiring and engaging packaging.
  • Review all pieces of packaging to ensure design and copy consistency.
  • Leverage consumer insights and evaluate competitive landscapes to develop, recommend, and implement private brand design solutions that drive retail sales.
  • Conduct market research on existing packaging and perform monthly store walks for competitive benchmarking to identify new packaging opportunities.
  • Create packaging mock-ups as needed to ensure branding consistency.
  • Partner with Legal and Product Integrity Teams and confirm packaging reflects legal and regulatory standards and passes appropriate quality specifications as established by the packaging manager.
  • Manage department budget and process invoices.
  • Work with IT on the implementation of technology systems critical to the delivery of packaging requirements and integrated with the PLM system.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of related work experience in packaging design, management, or branding.
Minimum Certifications or Technical Skills
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Production/Print Management
  • Microsoft Office
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with a major retailer in design, project management, production and print.
  • Experience and a strong understanding of the regulatory guidelines for packaging and related laws in both the US and Canada.
  • High level of knowledge in branding, design, production, and print; expert in packaging development.
Other
  • Structural Engineering and Brand Development is a plus.
