Job DescriptionPRIMARY
PURPOSE:
Assist with the instruction of the Elementary Summer Enrichment Programs to provide students enrolled in the programs with appropriate learning activities and social learning experiences to help them prepare for academic success at all levels.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be current Irving ISD employee
Minimum Education:
- Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual preferred but not required
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to use/learn basic computer applications
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to foster parent involvement
- Effective instructional support
Minimum Experience
:
- Experience working with children/students and parents.
- Experience with home instruction and parent involvement preferred.
- Previous experience with instructional summer extension preferred.
MAJOR
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Strategies:
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly work environment.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day as needed.
- Assist in the maintenance of administrative records and preparation of reports as required.
- Assist in preparing materials/displays for instruction or campus operations.
- Use appropriate technologies to strengthen and enhance the teaching and learning process.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Use appropriate and acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, responsible and in compliance with the Professional Code of Ethics.
- Must be able to teach and model all curriculum instructional goals including but not limited to:
- Physical education class and PE Activities
- Instruct and model reading, writing, math, and problem solving
- Science and Language
EQUIPMENT USED:
Copier, multi-line telephone, facsimile, audiovisual equipment, and computer/peripherals
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands / Environmental Factors:
- Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress.
- Must interact, communicate, and support parents of children enrolled in enrichment program.
- Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
- Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making.
