The position will serve as a High School ESL Teacher responsible for delivering instructional content, supporting student growth, and meeting district standards.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate for subject/level assigned
- Completion of Texas Reading Academy required for Elementary
- ESL Supplemental Certification preferred
- Minimum one year of student teaching or approved internship
- Competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with technology to enhance student learning
- Develop and implement curriculum plans and provide written evidence of preparation.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
- Use data to plan and implement instructional strategies that accommodate individual student needs.
- Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula for IEP students.
- Cooperate with staff in planning and implementing instructional goals and objectives.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides or volunteers.
- Integrate appropriate technologies to enhance teaching.
- Assist students in developing effective study habits.
- Monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Serve as a positive role model supporting the district mission.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and IEPs.
- Take precautions to protect students, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Maintain positive communication with students and parents/guardians.
- Maintain professional relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and the community.
- Use clear and accurate communication skills.
- Demonstrate current knowledge and skill in content area and instructional strategies.
- Participate in district and campus professional development.
- Show initiative in professional improvement.
- Comply with state, district, and school policies.
- Maintain required reports and records.
- Attend and serve on faculty/staff meetings and committees.
- Exhibit professional ethics.
- Follow the Irving ISD Employee Handbook and Board Policy.
Must demonstrate effective communication and emotional control. Requires frequent travel and prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer work.
