Fine Arts Coordinator of Visual Arts
Exemption Status: Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director of Fine Arts & Enrichment
Pay Grade: Admin/Prof 4A/(230 days)
Department/School: Fine Arts
This position is eligible for a Letter of Assurance.
Primary
Purpose:
Coordinate fine arts instruction in PK-12 Visual Arts. Provide curricular support for district Visual Arts programs. Coordinate and facilitate district, civic, and community Visual Arts Events.
Qualifications:
- Education / Certification: High School Diploma or GED Required;
Bachelor’s Degree Required;
Master’s Degree Preferred;
Clear and valid Texas driver’s license.
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Knowledge of district Visual Arts Curriculum
- Knowledge of processes for managing inventory
- Knowledge of district travel procedures
- Ability to effectively manage budget and resources
- Ability to manage personnel
- Effective planning and organizational skills
- Knowledge of district bond/general purchasing procedure
Minimum Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in an administrative or Visual Arts teaching position. Proven managerial experience in meeting diverse needs and deadlines.
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate with campus teachers and administration on Visual Arts instruction and operation.
- Work cooperatively with campus teachers and program directors to maintain Visual Arts maintenance schedule.
- Collaborate with campus teachers and program directors to manage a fully accurate accounting of materials and equipment contained in the fine arts spaces.
- Provide recommendations for facility upgrades and replacement of inventory.
- Collaborate with district Visual Arts content leads to develop a professional development plan.
- Present professional development in Fine Arts.
- Coordinate instructional and curricular development and delivery.
- Coordinate and facilitate district Visual Arts shows and events.
- Coordinate and facilitate civic Visual Arts events, including City of Irving.
- Coordinate and facilitate community Visual Arts events.
- Coordinate TAEA district of distinction participation.
- Assist in the preparation of the department budget.
- Exhibit professional, courteous, ethical, and responsible behavior; serve as role model for staff and public.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and district policies.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Fine Arts teachers with a focus on Visual Arts.
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, computer and peripherals; standard cleaning tools and equipment; small hand tools and power tools; light truck or van.
Physical and Environmental Factors: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting; frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding; regular grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, overhead reaching; frequent driving; regular moderate lifting (15–44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45+ pounds); work outside and inside, near uneven surfaces; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration, chemicals, electricity, machinery; irregular hours; frequent district wide travel.
