PAY GRADE: Admin/Prof 4

Position eligible for a Chapter 21 contract.
Primary Purpose- Develop, manage and implement a speech therapy and related services program to facilitate the needs of students with communicative disorders and related services needs district wide.
- Provide support and technical assistance to campus administrators, assessment staff, and central office staff in special education instruction, programming, and services.
- Assist the Special Education Director and provide leadership within the areas of teaching and learning, compliance, materials, assessment and evaluation, appraisal and public relations relative to students with disabilities.
- Support school staff with effective implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students with disabilities.
- Provide support to campus and district personnel in the area of special education compliance.
- Supervise district special education assessment staff.
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence and State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist – Preferred.
- Valid Texas Principal or mid‑management certification – Preferred.
- Special Education assessment experience – Required.
- Knowledge of research‑based best practices for providing specially designed instruction for students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of the Texas State Performance Plan indicators (SPP) Results‑Driven Accountability.
- Knowledge of federal and state rules governing the education of students with disabilities.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in attaining district special education program goals/objectives.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- General knowledge of curriculum content area standards.
- Knowledge and experience with conflict resolution, mediation and due process hearings.
- Ability to case manage and collaborate in the best interests of students.
- At least five (5) years successful teaching experience or relevant speech language pathology experience.
Job Duties
- Work with all staff personnel to ensure that schools are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations of special education.
- Supervise and support the implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies to increase achievement of students with disabilities.
- Provide instructional recommendations based on data provided through a student’s full individual educational evaluation.
- Encourage and support the full continuum of services to develop, implement, and maintain effective instructional programs to meet the educational needs of students with disabilities.
- Assist in selecting, monitoring, implementing, and evaluating effectiveness of evidence based interventions for students in a variety of academic settings.
- Consult/collaborate with campus educational teams to meet individual student’s educational needs.
- Collaborate with the Department of Professional Development to plan and conduct workshops.
- Encourage and support the development and implementation of specially designed instruction for students with disabilities.
- Encourage special education staff to communicate positive high expectations for students with disabilities with community and staff.
- Provide technical assistance to the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
- Provide technical assistance to Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committees to correctly interpret test data, plan for the student, and assist the committee in following District procedures and all laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, staff, teachers and/or the community.
