Primary
Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences which will prepare, train, and certify them to be leaders in Health Science Technology, with emphasis on Nursing/Patient Care Technicians. The instructor is to provide for the development of advanced knowledge and skills related to a wide variety of health careers. Students will become familiar with industry-based standards for documenting and maintaining medical information;
research industry employment requirements, including education, certification, and licensing requirements; and evaluate ethical and legal responsibilities of health science professionals. Students will employ hands‑on experiences for continued clinical knowledge and skill development.
Minimum
Education/Certification:
- Associate Degree plus National License or Certification in Health Professions and 2 years wage‑earning experience in the Health Profession
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in related subject and minimum 2 years teaching experience (Preferred)
- Texas Teacher Certification in Health Science 6‑12 or Health Science Technology Education 8‑12
Minimum education, certification, and experience are listed above. This position requires dual credit credentialing with Dallas College.
Special Knowledge / Skills- Knowledge of Health Science clinical rotations and internship requirements, policies, and procedures
- Ability to align Health Science curriculum to targeted industry certification exams
- Knowledge of State Performance Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS) and ability to analyze and document data for improved student performance
- Ability to provide content knowledge and skills in health‑related professions
- Ability to market Health Science programs to students, staff, parents, and the business community
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school and medical environment
- Fluent with technology use and actively integrates technology to enhance student learning
