Job DescriptionAs a 2nd grade bilingual teacher you will provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in core academic subject areas, enabling them to develop competencies for a global society.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate for subject/level assigned.
- Completion of Texas Reading Academy required for Elementary.
- ESL Supplemental Certification preferred.
- Minimum one year of student teaching or approved internship.
- Demonstrated competency in core academic subject area assigned.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency with technology and integration to enhance learning.
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned, providing written evidence of preparation.
- Present subject matter per Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
- Use data to plan and implement appropriate instructional strategies and materials tailored to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with special education teachers/staff to modify curricula and plan for students with IEPs.
- Cooperate with staff to plan and implement instructional goals per district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen and enhance teaching and learning.
Student Growth and Development
- Assist students in analyzing and improving study habits.
- Consistently monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Present a positive role model supporting the district mission.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a conducive learning environment.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct, board policies, and IEPs.
- Ensure safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
Communication
- Maintain open, positive communication with students, parents, and community members.
- Use appropriate communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Maintain professional relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Professional Growth and Development
- Demonstrate current knowledge and skill in assigned content area.
- Participate in district and campus professional development.
- Show initiative in professional improvement.
Policy Implementation
- Stay informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Maintain and file required reports and records.
- Attend faculty/staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Demonstrate professional ethics in accordance with Educator Code of Ethics.
- Stay informed of Irving ISD Employee Handbook and Board Policy.
