A 40‑hour schedule will be based on business and student needs, generally eight hours each day Monday‑Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support student and campus needs.
Some travel required for conferences and training.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree in higher education, counseling or related field preferred.
- At least one year of advising, counseling, or related experience; 3‑5 years preferred.
- Proven experience providing exceptional customer service in an education or service‑oriented environment, addressing student inquiries and needs effectively.
- Proficiency in advising, course selection, and academic planning, along with the ability to provide guidance on resources for student success.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and empathetic communication with students, faculty, and staff.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, including the ability to assist students in resolving academic and personal challenges by connecting them with appropriate resources and support services.
The hourly rate for this position is between $23.75 and $32.14. Compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Advise students on academic issues, program and course offerings, and out‑of‑classroom challenges impacting academic success, discussing options and pros/cons to support decision‑making.
- Answer student questions and resolve basic issues related to bookstore validation and eBook use.
- Complete and maintain student scheduling and course revisions per university standards.
- Provide guidance on scheduling changes and prerequesites, processing changes in the system.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to assist students with personal or academic concerns and find appropriate solutions.
- Organize and coordinate student‑focused events each semester.
- Communicate to students regarding semester/term start preparation.
- Conduct welcome calls to new incoming students to discuss schedules and potential obstacles, providing resources and solutions.
- Enter updates into university platforms on all engagement and communication with students.
- Prepare materials for and conduct new student orientations on accessing and navigating university platforms and bookstore validation; inform students of resources and contact information for the Tutoring and Writing Center and Library.
- Communicate and negotiate with inter‑ and intra‑department personnel to resolve student issues.
- Take on additional administration duties as needed to support the campus.
- Some travel will be required for conferences, training, and to support the Clarksville campus.
