Job OverviewProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Business Education to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in a global society.
Qualifications- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Teaching Certificate: Valid Texas teaching certificate for Business Education.
- Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred, but not required. Relevant work experience is acceptable.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated competency in the subject area assigned.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Mastery of industry specific software (Microsoft Office apps).
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent with technology use and actively integrate technology to enhance student learning.
- Strong understanding of career opportunities and skills required for employment business.
- Other Requirements:
- Willing to teach dual credit courses.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- This position may require additional training or meeting attendance outside of the instructional day.
- Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned, with written evidence of preparation.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Provide instruction utilizing experiential learning techniques.
- Use available data to plan and implement appropriate instructional strategies and activities that accommodate individual student needs.
- Cooperate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students per IEP guidelines.
- Collaborate with staff to plan and implement instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides or volunteers.
- Use appropriate technologies to strengthen teaching and learning.
- Participate as an active member of the CTE Advisory Board for Business, Marketing and Finance.
- Act as a sponsor of a CTE student organization and competitions.
- Student Growth and Development
- Assist students in analyzing and improving study habits.
- Monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
- Serve as a positive role model supporting the district mission.
- Promote opportunities through CTE to middle schools.
- Provide opportunities for students to earn industry certifications.
- Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Provide safety training and maintain documentation of mastery.
- Manage student behavior per Student Code of Conduct and IEP guidelines.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Communication
- Establish open communication with students and parents/guardians.
- Participate as a member of the cluster advisory committee.
- Maintain professional relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and community.
- Use appropriate communication skills to present information clearly.
- Professional Growth and Development
- Display current knowledge and skill in instructional strategies.
- Participate in district and campus professional development, including CTE meetings and training.
- Attend required district, cluster, and advisory meetings.
- Attend training to advance instructional skill level in experiential techniques.
- Attend professional development related to certification area.
- Attend annual safety training for CTE instructors.
- Policy Implementation
- Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations.
- Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other required documents.
- Participate in faculty/staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and compliance with the Professional Code of Ethics.
Mental and physical demands include maintaining emotional control, problem solving under stress, and interpreting procedures for decision-making. Requires frequent in-district travel and occasional in-state or national travel; may involve irregular hours.
Safety:
Observe safety rules, wear required PPE, report incidents immediately, and participate in safety improvement efforts.
