Overview
HS Associate Principal (26-27 SY) – Irving HS, Irving ISD, Irving, Texas. Immediate opening with duties to assist the principal in the administration of the instructional program and all areas of campus operation.
QualificationsMinimum
Education/Certification:
- Master's Degree
- Valid Texas Administrator's Certificate
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in decision making
- Knowledge in the selection, training, and supervision of personnel
- Knowledge of laws, rules, procedures, and programs specifically related to the operation of schools in Texas
- Strong organizational skills and ability to organize large community/school events including Graduation
Minimum Experience:
- At least three years successful experience as a classroom teacher
- Prior experience in instructional leadership roles
Instructional Management
- Monitor the instructional program by reviewing teacher lesson plans, observing classroom instruction, conferencing with staff, and analyzing assessment data related to student performance
- Work with the principal and staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the curriculum
- Evaluate and recommend improvements in the design and implementation of the instructional program
- Assist the principal in providing campus-level curriculum/instruction staff development in a timely and effective manner
School/Organizational Climate
- Project a positive image and maintain a work environment conducive to positive staff morale
- Promote a positive teaching/learning environment for staff and students
- Practice good listening skills and be receptive to suggestions from staff, students, and parents
- Communicate with staff, students, and parents clearly and effectively
- Show genuine interest in student and staff well-being
- Resolve conflicts with students, staff, and parents
- Promote recognition of students, staff, and community volunteers; coordinate campus graduation activities
School/Organizational improvement
- Support the school mission and collaboratively develop a shared vision for improvement
- Promote high expectations and provide leadership that improves student achievement
- Apply research findings to facilitate school improvement
- Assess aspects of the school program and use information to implement actions that improve learning and create an orderly environment
- Ensure staff understands and implements the annual campus plan for improvement
- Monitor attendance and implement strategies to improve it
Personnel Management
- Assist in selecting new staff and define expectations for staff
- Observe and document performance, provide development supervision, and conduct evaluations
- Make recommendations on personnel placement, transfers, retention, promotion, and dismissal
- Complete personnel management reports timely
- Assist staff in developing professional growth plans and attending professional development as feasible
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
- Assist in developing and managing the annual budget within program needs
- Oversee facilities and grounds to ensure a safe, clean environment
- Assist in required operational reports (enrollment, attendance, funds accounting, payroll, transportation)
Student Management
- Assist staff in implementing a student discipline plan that promotes positive behavior
- Communicate discipline expectations to staff, students, and parents; involve parents in supporting behavior
- Support teachers in campus discipline programs and address disciplinary matters effectively
- Enforce school rules consistently and provide appropriate consequences
- Provide assistance to staff experiencing disciplinary challenges to resolve issues
School/Community Relations
- Articulate the school s mission to the community and solicit support
- Be aware of school/community needs and initiate outreach activities
- Promote a positive image of the school and maintain relationships with parents and community members
