Special Education Teaching Assistant

• Support students in small groups or 1:1 settings
• Assist students with assignments, homework, and projects
• Adapt materials and provide modifications to support student learning
• Help students understand and follow classroom rules
• Monitor student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions
• Implement behavior management strategies
• Support students in developing social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviors
• Assist with de-escalating student behaviors and request support from teachers and Special Education team members as needed
• Reinforce SDI concepts already in effect
• Help students with transitions and activities
• Support students with personal hygiene needs, including toileting, feeding, and dressing
• Support students with mobility and adaptive equipment
• Provide general clerical support for the ESS Team
• Attend meetings and training sessions
• Help maintain a clean and organized work area
• Provide a supportive and positive learning environment

• High school degree or higher
• Experience in special education
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Interest in reading great books
• Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred
• US Work Authorization required
• Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements
• Ability to stand, sit, perform repetitious hand and body movements, bend, squat, and reach
• May be required to move or position equipment up to approximately 15 pounds

Demonstrates the ability to support students in special education settings by implementing behavior management strategies, adapting materials for diverse learning needs, and fostering a positive learning environment. Proficient in assisting with personal hygiene needs and mobility support while maintaining effective communication with students and team members.
