Compensation: $100,000 – $125,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Projects
, the Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving operational processes within a building products warehouse environment. This position focuses on optimizing material flow, labor efficiency, layout design, and warehouse automation to support high‑volume distribution, inventory accuracy, and on‑time delivery.
The role is both strategic and hands‑on, requiring frequent collaboration with operations, logistics, safety, and IT teams across multiple sites to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. This position requires approximately 50% travel to Prime Source distribution centers and field locations.
Key Job Responsibilities- Partner with safety and maintenance teams to ensure all designs comply with OSHA, fire codes, and industry standards.
- Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials to ensure consistent performance across shifts.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, utilization, and order accuracy.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data analytics, root cause analysis, and cross‑departmental collaboration.
- Evaluate and recommend warehouse management systems (WMS), automation solutions, and material handling technologies to increase throughput and accuracy.
- Lead Lean / Six Sigma initiatives targeting waste reduction, process flow improvement, and labor optimization.
- Collaborate with operations and IT teams to optimize system configurations, slotting strategies, and replenishment logic.
- Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and process mapping to identify inefficiencies and develop engineered labor standards.
- Design and implement optimal warehouse layouts including racking, material handling equipment (MHE) placement, and traffic flow.
- Support new facility startups, expansions, and layout redesigns for improved efficiency and safety.
- Support cost modeling, capacity planning, and ROI analysis for capital projects.
- Team‑oriented mindset with hands‑on problem‑solving approach.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar layout design software for facility and workflow design.
- Advanced Excel and data modeling skills (Power BI or similar tools preferred).
- Solid understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and material handling equipment (MHE).
- Experience in time study, labor management systems (LMS), and engineered labor standards.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
