The Position Shermco Systems Integration is seeking a Project Engineer to steer on-site instrumentation and controls projects from mobilization to project closeout. You will be the primary point of accountability for project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring high-quality execution while maintaining an unwavering focus on safety and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Review and understand detailed project documents, including scope of work, installation specifications, project schedule, project deliverables, Schedule of Values, and milestones
  • Coordinate project activities between the office and the site, manage project schedules, resolve scope issues, and ensure compliance with budget and technical specifications.
  • Review and understand detailed engineering packages, and approve I&C deliverables including: P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, I/O lists, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, pull schedules, checkout documentation, control narratives, etc.
  • Review, select, and/or specify process instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, actuators) and control hardware (PLCs, HMI, VFDs).
  • Prepare material submittals/requisitions, perform technical bid evaluations, and manage vendor coordination for instruments and control hardware.
  • Perform on-site review and oversee installation activities, loop checks, startup, and commissioning of control systems, to ensure all specifications are met. Provide technical support during commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction managers, and other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Process) and liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure project milestones and requirements are met.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews (BIM) and perform quality checks on construction drawings to ensure accuracy.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    Ensure all designs and installations meet applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., ISA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE) and uphold EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) regulations.
  • Establish/Maintain behaviors that demonstrate Safety as a Personal Core Value.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License is desired or preferred.
  • 3-6+ years of experience in I&C design, commissioning, or project engineering in a relevant industry (e.g., Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, Power, Manufacturing)
