Position OverviewSiemens Mobility is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Lead to oversee commissioning and warranty operations for the Siemens Charger diesel electric locomotive, a Tier 4–compliant, 4,400 hp platform that is transforming passenger rail transportation across the United States. This role is responsible for leading on‑site technical activities, driving reliability improvements, ensuring compliance with Siemens quality and safety standards, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background, demonstrated leadership abilities, and the capability to coordinate field service activities in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Operational Leadership- Lead all on‑site commissioning and warranty activities for Siemens locomotives.
- Assign daily tasks to local technicians; oversee task execution, workflow efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Track, analyze, and report weekly performance metrics to regional and corporate management.
- Coordinate daily operations with customer personnel, Siemens engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
- Perform and supervise mechanical and electrical repairs on locomotive systems, including propulsion, brake systems, onboard electronics, and auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis (RCA) to resolve complex failures.
- Review, interpret, and validate technical documentation, including mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
- Manage Field Modifications (FMIs), including planning, installation oversight, testing, and documentation.
- Ensure all work, failures, corrections, and replacements are accurately recorded in Siemens’ Commissioning and Warranty database.
- Implement Siemens quality standards and industry best practices to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends in failures and recommending preventive and corrective measures.
- Coordinate the RMA (Return Material Authorization) process for failed parts, ensuring timely shipment, documentation, and follow up.
- Assist engineering teams with technical investigations and long‑term product reliability initiatives.
- Serve as the primary on‑site Siemens representative, fostering strong customer relationships.
- Communicate clearly regarding technical findings, operational risks, process improvements, and project status updates.
- Collaborate with other Siemens site leads to share best practices, knowledge, and improvement opportunities.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Proven experience in a field service, maintenance, or technical operations environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and demonstrated experience conducting root‑cause analysis.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with workplace and industrial safety standards (e.g., OSHA, FRA, general lockout/tagout procedures).
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
