MPO Solutions PMCM is seeking to fill a mid-management level position for a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer (Texas PE). The position entails technical and leadership expertise for electrical engineering projects across aviation, industrial, and transportation sectors. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions, providing technical leadership to project teams, and contributing to business development initiatives as part of a growing team supporting municipal clients in Prime role.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to monitor project progress, identify potential schedule impacts, and implementing strategies to optimize project timelines and outcomes. Work will primarily support the firm’s Program Management and Owner’s Representative services, with additional support for Engineering service offerings.

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership
  • Support of electrical engineering design work, including power distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency power systems, and commissioning activities
  • Conduct comprehensive facility electrical system condition assessments and evaluations, developing recommendations for repair, rehabilitation, or replacement strategies.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports with findings, cost estimates, specifications, and design documentation.
Project Delivery
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential schedule impacts, and implement corrective strategies.
Staff Development
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering technical growth and professional development.
  • Provide guidance on technical approaches and engineering problem-solving.
  • Support career advancement of team members in a supervisory role.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas
  • Minimum 5 years of post‑licensure design experience in electrical engineering
  • Active involvement in IEEE, NFPA, IESNA, or other professional societies
  • Demonstrate knowledge of design‑build or progressive design‑build project delivery methods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive design experience in power distribution systems spanning medium and low voltage applications, including switch gear, transformers, protective relaying, coordination studies, and arc flash hazard analysis in accordance with IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E
  • Proven expertise in lighting systems design across a broad range of applications, including interior and exterior architectural lighting, airfield lighting (FAA Advisory Circular compliance), roadway illumination, and specialized industrial and hazardous location environments
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency power systems design and evaluation, including standby and legally required generator systems, UPS systems, automatic and manual transfer switches, and life safety branch wiring in compliance with NFPA 110, NFPA 111, and NEC Article 700/701/702; experienced in conducting condition assessments of existing emergency power infrastructure and developing capital improvement recommendations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical commissioning processes in accordance with NETA ATS and ASHRAE Guideline 0 standards, including functional performance testing, protective relay testing and coordination verification, infrared thermographic inspection, and startup and acceptance procedures for complex power distribution and emergency power systems.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong engineering judgment in developing and adapting design solutions.
  • Ability to conduct thorough condition assessments and develop cost‑effective rehabilitation strategies.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency standards, sustainable design practices, and utility coordination Proficiency with relevant electrical engineering design software and tools
  • Experience with power system analysis software, lighting design software, and CAD/BIM platforms
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Communication
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including clients, regulators, and the public
  • Prepare clear, concise, and professional technical documentation.
  • Present confidently at public meetings, client presentations, and industry conferences.
