Metals Technology Manager - Irving TX

Job Summary

This position is broadly responsible for the implementation of the company’s sales and marketing strategy and for generating new application equipment and gas business through the development and sale of engineered solutions that address customers’ needs in the Metals Fabrication Industry using the individual’s industry/process knowledge and industry contacts.

• Working closely with Bulk and Packaged Gas sales organizations and independently identify and target prospective customers with gas application technology.
• Developing and maintaining expert technical relationships with customers.
• Leading the application technology implementation from a thorough understanding of customer process requirements through developing technical approaches internally or sourcing technology and equipment from external partners, making customer presentations, developing comprehensive technical proposals, working with multi-functional teams to negotiate commercial terms, setting up and conducting on-site demonstrations and trials, and implementing the final solution at the customer.
• Evaluating, consolidating and promoting existing controlled atmosphere, welding, and lasing gas product lines, and managing strategy for the launch of market-focused programs nationally.
• Developing application training material and conducting sales organization training, compiling and disseminating information on competitor products and activities and technology/market trends.

Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all company policies and standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science (Associate’s degree may be considered with significant work experience).

10+ years of experience, preferably as a heat-treat engineer in a manufacturing or R&D environment. Experience in the industrial gases industry providing product-application support and selling to the Metals Fabrication industry is helpful.

• Experienced project manager.
• Excellent engineering, technical writing, and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgy and material science.
• Knowledge of heat-treat processes, equipment, and governing codes.
• Familiarity with Thermal Spray, Welding, Cutting, Lasers, and other Metals Fabrication applications.

None. Physical requirements are minimal and do not exceed occasional routine activity.

50% domestic travel required; extensive domestic travel will be necessary.
