Caterpillar’s Employee Benefit Funds (“EBF”) team is an important part of our Corporate Treasury organization, managing almost $40 billion in various retirement, benefit plan, and insurance assets. The EBF team is responsible for advising the Benefit Funds Committee (“BFC”), the investment committee with fiduciary oversight over all financial aspects of the benefit plan investment portfolios. Defined Contribution plans (401(k)) are the primary retirement savings vehicle for our U.S. participants, with more than 70,000 current and former employees investing over $24 billion in assets.
We are looking for a talented and motivated Benefit Investments Manager to join our EBF team, with responsibility to oversee the investment and compliance aspects of our defined contribution plans. This role will have broad responsibility in helping to ensure that the 401(k) plans and the individual investment menu options meet their objectives and the needs of our participants. The Benefit Investments Manager will lead their team to deliver sustained process excellence through strong governance, documentation standards, thorough benchmarking, diligent fee negotiations, oversight of investment managers and service providers, and continuous adoption of best practice solutions.
WhatYou Will Do
Exercises primary responsibility for the management of the Caterpillar U.S. Defined Contribution Plan’s investment assets according to the policy established by the Caterpillar Benefit Funds Committee (BFC).
Works in conjunction with the BFC to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the investment and ongoing monitoring of DC plan assets to enable a secure retirement for Caterpillar plan participants.
Works closely with investment consultants, directed trustee and custodian, recordkeepers, investment managers, and internal partners in Total Rewards and Accounting to ensure smooth plan administration and compliance.
Performs on-going due diligence reviews of investment manager performance and risk against policy objectives and benchmarks, compliance with agreements and investment guidelines, and evaluation of plan fees and expenses.
Stays informed of the regulatory environment, trends, and best practices in the defined contribution industry and provides insight and recommendations to the BFC as needed.
Performs periodic asset class reviews with assistance of external consultant and presents results to the BFC.
Leads periodic Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for investment managers and external service providers as necessary, including the negotiation of investment management agreements, contracts, and other documentation with the assistance of ERISA counsel.
Supports the development and ongoing production of investment reporting and dashboards.
Leads and develops a team of Finance Analysts in all aspects of investment operations.
