The Director, Project Controlling provides strategic and operational leadership for project financial management across the organization. This role is accountable for ensuring strong financial governance, transparency, and profitability across complex, multi-year projects and customer programs.

The Director partners closely with Project Management, Operations, Sales, Engineering, and Finance leadership to drive consistent financial performance, proactive risk management, and disciplined execution throughout the full project lifecycle, from order intake through closeout.

This role is critical in establishing project controlling standards, developing talent, and supporting informed decision-making aligned with Körber's growth and execution strategy.

Your role in our team
  • Lead and evolve the project controlling framework, governance, and financial processes across the business
  • Establish clear financial ownership, accountability, and escalation paths to ensure strong project performance
  • Act as a strategic finance business partner to senior leadership on portfolio health, financial risks, and opportunities
  • Oversee end-to-end financial management of the project lifecycle (order intake, setup, revenue recognition, margin, EAC, forecasting, and cash flow)
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial forecasts and reporting (orders, revenue, gross margin, EBIT, billings, and cash)
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage financial risks, while ensuring compliance with contracts, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead, coach, and develop project controlling teams, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and capability development
  • Partner cross-functionally (Project Management, Operations, Sales, Engineering, Legal) to support execution, bids, contracts, and drive improvements in financial transparency and performance
Your profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required;
    Master's (MBA/Finance/Accounting) preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in project controlling, finance, or commercial project environments, including 5+ years in leadership roles, ideally within complex, multinational, or engineering/supply chain environments
  • Deep expertise in project financial management and accounting (order intake, budgeting, EAC, revenue recognition, margin, cash flow, profitability, and long-term contracts), with strong knowledge of financial risk management and compliance (internal controls, policies, audits)
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and translate it into clear, actionable insights, supported by strong communication skills and executive presence for leadership and board-level audiences
  • Proven leadership in building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on accountability, talent development, succession planning, and continuous improvement
  • Strong business partnering and influencing skills, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders while collaborating cross-functionally (Project Management, Operations, Sales, Engineering, Finance)
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify risks and opportunities, drive mitigation actions, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
  • Experience driving process standardization, financial transparency, and continuous improvement in project controlling, supported by proficiency with ERP/SAP systems, forecasting models, and reporting tools
