Director of Finance

As Director of Finance, the successful candidate will play an integral role in contributing to the attainment of Human Appeal’s (HA) objectives by providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the organization’s financial commitments are met. This includes developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control, managing the day-to-day operations of the Finance department, and driving business success by providing the financial insights that lead to better commercial decisions in the USA and across HA’s global offices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee the operational management of the Finance department
• Provide a key role in driving the strategy and performance of the organization, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
• Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks
• Maintain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems
• Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis
• Conduct analysis to produce budgets and forecasts, and report on these at Board of Directors and Board of Trustees level
• Ensure the financial compliance of the organization, in line with relevant legislation, regulation, and audit recommendations
• Oversee the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of financial data on HA computer systems (Salesforce, SAGE, NAVision)

• Bachelor’s Degree required;
  Master’s Degree preferred
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant Finance discipline
• Certified Public Accountant required
• (ACA; ACCA; CIMA) preferred

• Significant senior‑level financial leadership, management and oversight experience
• Experience with or exposure to the non‑for‑profit or public sector
• Experience with or exposure to financial management in developing countries
• MS Office Suite proficiency
• Experienced user of financial databases and systems – previous experience using Salesforce, SAGE, and NAVision is desirable

• Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal; requires good hand‑eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity
• Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficing to visit other locations; ability to stand and walk
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force
