The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week with one remote day. They report to the Director – Global Head of Financial Institutions EDD Operations within the Global Financial Crimes Division (“GFCD”). The role supervises operational aspects of Financial Institutions (“FI”) Enhanced Due Diligence (“EDD”) for banks and non‑bank financial institutions.
Team Lead Responsibilities- Effectively manage a team of Analysts responsible for conducting a variety of KYC FI client reviews of varying complexity, assessing client risk profiles and AML/Sanctions/ABC programs, adverse media, PEP and sanctions exposure, and providing holistic risk assessment.
- Provide guidance to Analysts conducting transactional analysis and data cleansing of clients’ activity, identifying high‑risk indicators, downstream correspondent activity (Nested activity), and evaluating information that does not align to clients’ expected activity.
- Review and identify areas of risk regarding the FI customers AML program through Wolfsberg CBDDQ / FCCQ responses and analysis. Raise questions related to risk areas and evaluate client responses.
- Ensure and oversee the operations for accurate (QC) and on‑time completion of reviews performed by the Analysts and ensure necessary escalations of identified financial crime risks and issues.
- Act as a strong partner with MUFG client onboarding teams, Relationship Managers and local and regional Financial Crimes teams (AML, Sanctions, Anti‑bribery & Corruption, etc.) and partner with internal teams in Global FI EDD Operations.
- Manage FI EDD Analysts and Assistant Vice Presidents (AVPs) to ensure accurate and complete reviews per MUFG policies and Global FI EDD Operations Procedure and Operating Manuals.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and counseling, ensuring proper research, analysis, documentation, and quality.
- Recommend actions on events but elevate when necessary to higher level for unusual or uncommon situations.
- Complete mid‑year and annual performance reviews with thoughtful summaries of employees’ contributions and performance.
- Manage and organize risk trigger assignments and department work queues, ensuring critical deadlines are met.
- Provide liaison support, maintain effective working relationships between FI EDD Analysts, First‑Line Business Units, Relationship Managers (RM), and Senior Management.
- Work with AVPs regarding analyst‑level escalations and provide findings to the Director of Global FI EDD Operations and First‑Line Business Units, RMs and Senior Management to evaluate potential financial crime risk.
- Provide support in FI KYC/EDD activities globally, including remediation efforts and coordination with Regional Financial Crime Offices.
- Collaborate with GFCD Project Management Office to provide updates for GFCD leadership and governance forums.
- Ensure FI client records are accurate; maintain system integrity and recommend actions when required.
- Provide responses and feedback for monthly and quarterly metrics, SLA adherence, QC scorecard trend analysis, SharePoint cleanup and capacity needs.
- Manage, monitor, analyze and report on team’s operational plans and results.
- Support remediation efforts to address FI related open issues timely and effectively.
