Position OverviewCurrently seeking two highly organized and detail-oriented temporary Magistrate Services Clerks to support Municipal Court Operations. These positions play a vital role in the judicial intake and magistration process, ensuring accurate processing of criminal justice documentation, court records, bond administration, and interagency coordination.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with legal, municipal court, criminal justice, or law enforcement support experience who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can maintain strict confidentiality while working with sensitive information.
Position 1Friday through Tuesday
7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Position 2Wednesday through Sunday
9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Judicial Intake & Magistration- Must be able to receive and review arrest documentation and arrest packets.
- Must be able to prepare Public Safety Reports (PSRs) and magistration paperwork.
- Must be able to coordinate magistrate proceedings and judicial warnings.
- Must be able to document judicial actions and enter judicial determinations into required systems.
- Must be able to process judicial orders, notices, warrants, and transport documentation.
- Initiate and process municipal court cases.
- Maintain judicial records and case files.
- Schedule hearings and process court-related actions.
- Assist with bond-related transactions and public inquiries.
- Review and accept qualifying bonds.
- Coordinate with criminal justice partners regarding higher-level offenses.
- Maintain judicial, bond, and transfer records.
- Respond to records requests from agencies and the public.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements.
- Prepare reports and perform records retention activities.
- Serve as a liaison between the Court, Police Department, Dallas County, and other criminal justice agencies.
- Coordinate judicial paperwork, bond conditions, interpreter requests, and warrants.
- Facilitate communication between involved parties and agencies.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation and fingerprinting.
- Must not have a criminal conviction
- Ability to obtain TLETS Mobile Access Certification within 30 days of placement.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required)
- Three or more years of experience in a legal, municipal court, law enforcement, criminal justice, or related environment.
- Knowledge of municipal court operations, criminal justice procedures, and applicable laws.
- Experience handling sensitive records and working with diverse populations.
- Ability to remain professional and composed in stressful or rapidly changing situations.
- Direct interaction with in-custody arrestees within a jail environment.
- Access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS).
- Fast-paced environment requiring strong organizational skills and professionalism.
