BSWH Medical Center Irving TX
Shift: Part-Time – Friday 12pm – 10:30pm, Saturday 12pm – 10:30pm, Sunday 12pm – 9:30pm
The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions, and may perform phlebotomy.
Essential Functions OfThe Role
- Conduct routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
- Sort, label, and record patient specimens. Set up specimen, material, and equipment in preparation for the Medical Technologist to perform tests.
- Operate centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer, and other laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies.
- Communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
- Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
- Phlebotomy skill for all age groups.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
- Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in specimen processing and phlebotomy within a core lab hospital department.
- Phlebotomy National Agency certification highly desired.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience:
Less than 1 Year of Experience.
