Role Overview:
A Certified Surgical Technologist (CST-OR) functions during the intraoperative phase to facilitate surgical procedures under RN supervision.
Responsibilities:Prepare and organize the operating room, instruments, and supplies; scrub in for major surgeries; ensure sterile technique; assist with patient positioning and draping; pass sterile supplies; perform surgical counts; handle specimens; disassemble and decontaminate instruments; maintain inventory; and adhere to infection control standards.
Qualifications & Skills:Completion of an accredited surgical technology program and certification as a CST. Requires knowledge of anatomy, surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and infection prevention. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Key Duties:Prepare OR setup, anticipate surgical needs, assist with patient positioning, manage surgical instruments, ensure instrument sterilization, and maintain a safe environment following regulatory guidelines.
Additional Info:Requires 2 years of experience, BLS certification, and adherence to safety and infection control policies.
