EMS Training Specialist

Duties include developing curriculum, scheduling, teaching and record keeping of continuing education classes for paramedics and EMTs; and assisting with completion of required paperwork and filing it with the Texas Department of Health Services. Duties also include taking an active role in quality improvement and quality assurance programs by performing quality reviews and audits on patient care reports originating from emergency response calls and identifying remedial training for paramedics;

going on “ride-alongs” with field personnel to evaluate crews on their medical skills and procedures; and ensuring IFD personnel adheres to UTSWMC/Biotel EMS system guidelines for therapy protocols and pharmacology use, and complies with nationally recognized standards, such as the American Heart Association (AHA), American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). n.

PAY GRADE GG22 / FULL PAY RANGE $5,634 - $7,939 PER MONTH ($67,608 – $95,268 ANNUALLY)

A Bachelor s degree, or equivalent, and five years of experience as a field paramedic, as well as two years of experience as an instructor required, fire service based EMS preferred; a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medicine beneficial. Must have, or be able to obtain within a specified timeframe, a valid Class C Texas driver’s license and Instructor Certification from DSHA or National Association of EMS Educators.

Texas Department of State Health Services course coordinator credentials preferred. A résumé must be submitted with application
