SummaryASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for the Banquet Captain at the Irving Convention Center. This hands‑on position provides the highest degree of professional catering service to guests with the goal of achieving customer satisfaction and retention.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Set up and service individual beverage locations.
- Enforce all liquor laws.
- Verify and account for all liquor inventory.
- Maintain proper sanitation of the work area.
- Follow proper safety practices in the work area.
- Provide pleasant and efficient service to customers.
- Report to F&B personnel in appropriate uniform for assigned location.
- Prepare all beverage items for sale in the station.
- Sell to customers, charging the amount indicated on the ASM price list.
- Receive and handle card payments and/or tickets.
- Verify cash register is programmed properly, according to ASM approved sales prices.
- Follow all rules and regulations.
- Request identification for every guest purchasing alcohol.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.
- Basic working knowledge of cash register and cash handling procedures.
- Sufficient math ability to accurately count and handle money.
- Basic working knowledge of bar operation.
- Ability to follow directions and effectively perform the work.
- Pleasant personality and neat appearance.
- TIPS or LEAD certified.
- Speak and understand English well enough to read and understand safety policies and procedures and converse with customers, supervisors and employees.
- Positive, customer service‑oriented attitude at all times.
- Strong knowledge of sanitary practices.
- Maintain proper grooming and dress code standards.
- Work ethic encouraging strong urgency and quality in a team environment.
- Ability to work with other staff members in the facility.
- Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Requires ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
The employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
