Position Summary: We are seeking a Temporary IT Hardware Deployment Technician to support our Service Desk Hardware Team with a large-scale Windows 11 PC deployment initiative. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone who has a basic understanding of PC hardware and Windows 10/11 and is comfortable following detailed instructions and processes. This position will work on-site in our Irving, TX office, assisting with packaging, shipping, receiving returned devices, imaging PCs, inventory updates, and occasional remote support to help end users set up their new computers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare, pack, and ship Windows 11 PCs to end users
- Receive and unbox returned PCs from end users
- Follow documented procedures (SOPs) to:
- Reimage Windows 10 PCs to Windows 11
- Apply required configuration steps as directed
- Perform basic hardware tasks, including:
- Hard drive replacements (in specific scenarios based on supervisor instructions)
- General troubleshooting of PC boot/setup issues
- Perform frequent data entry tasks to maintain accurate inventory records in the company asset management system
- Communicate with end users as needed to provide remote assistance with first-time setup of new PCs
- Maintain an organized workspace and follow handling procedures for IT equipment
- Ability to lift and move boxed IT equipment (typically up to ~30 lbs)
- Ability to stand, bend, and work hands-on with computers for extended periods
- Ability to unpack, organize, and handle equipment safely and carefully
- Basic understanding of PC hardware (desktop/laptop components, peripherals, cables, etc.)
- Familiarity with Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Comfort following step-by-step written instructions and procedures (SOPs)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently
- Proficient in spoken and written English (for end-user communication and ticketing/inventory notes)
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Irving, TX, Monday–Friday
- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred); minimum of 1-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - EQUIPMENT OPERATED/USED:
Computer, 10-key, printer, copier, fax machine, and other office equipment. - SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR CLOTHING:
